2.8.3 Rule Transformation Step

A Rule transformation step feeds selected data to a Rule Transformation Worker as part of a Workflow. DCH gathers the users, clients, groups, entities and relationships you choose and hands them to the worker, which turns them into Graph Access Rules. This is how access rules can be derived automatically from the data in your graph and identity provider, rather than maintained by hand.

Add a Rule transformation step from the canvas palette, then open it to choose the worker and the data to include.

Give the step a name

At the top of the step, set a title and, optionally, a description. These identify the step on the canvas.

Select the worker

Under Worker, choose the Rule Transformation worker that processes the data. Only workers of the RuleTransformation type appear here; see Workers for how they are registered.

caution

The selected worker must be active when the step runs, or the run fails. Check it on the Workers page if a run reports the worker as unavailable.

Choose the data to include

Select which parts of the graph and identity model to send to the worker:

  • Include users, Include clients, Include groups: include the users, clients and groups from DCH's identity provider.
  • Entities: pick the specific Target Entities to include.
  • Include relationships: include the Relationships between the included entities.

What you include scopes the data the worker receives, and therefore the rules it produces.

Control when the step runs

Like every Workflow step, a Rule transformation step has:

  • Enabled: whether the step runs. Turn it off to skip it without deleting it.
  • Run if: All succeeded (run only if every preceding step succeeded) or All done (run once the preceding steps have finished, whatever their outcome).

Save or delete the step

Choose Save to keep the step's configuration. To remove it, open the step and choose Delete rule transformation step.
